It marks the culmination of the growing season, it rises just after sunset and that extra bit of light helped the farmers when gathering in their crops for the final harvest. It's often the time of year that the moon looks its largest, giving the optical 'moon illusion' as it comes up over the horizon.  When coming straight from the horizon it often has a peach coloured haze as the sun reflects on its surface.  Romani women would sometimes whisper messages through their curled over right hand to be taken to their loved ones who were far away\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThese moons are painstakingly difficult to make, mostly because ceramics have to be hollow.
