These bats are cut by hand (no cutter, just a blade) and dried overnight between weights so they fire flat. They are then underglazed in black, carved into using a sgraffito technique, fired to a thousand degrees, then covered in a transparent glaze and fired again at 1180C—a slow, steady process.
These bats, whilst certainly gothic, are by no means without whimsy. They come in three different sizes, just in case you fancy a spin on Hilder Ogden’s flying ducks up your wall, or you can purchase them individually if you’d prefer. All will be slightly unique due to the nature of their making but they are all based upon the same design.
