Bear Animal Totem

A totem is a sacred/magical object and for many of us there is a certain animal that we are inexplicably drawn to. This bear totem is made by hand in stoneware clay, carved with protection sigils that have been inspired by an obsession with Slavic and Icelandic traditional magical protection designs. It has been fired twice and coated in a Japanese cocoa shino glaze.

We’re all drawn to different animals and the concept of spirit animals resonates strongly with many of us. In shamanic belief systems, spirit animals—often called power animals or animal guides—are an example of the living manifestations of animism.

The bear spirit animal symbolizes inner strength, conscious grounding and deep introspection. They have a quiet power, are aware of other boundaries as well as their own and they inherently understand the healing wisdom gained by taking time to look inwards. The bear is stoic and can stand tall against hard times, also honouring the time to rest and the time to work and to do so cyclically as the seasons change. They are fiercely protective of their own and are loyal, dependent and steady.
