This crow spirit is made by hand in stoneware clay, carved with protection sigils inspired by traditional Slavic and Icelandic magical protection designs. It has been fired twice and washed with copper oxide before being glazed in a matte white that has been hand-painted on to give a rustic and aged feel.
We’re all drawn to different animals and the concept of spirit animals resonates strongly with many of us. In shamanic belief systems, spirit animals (often called power animals or animal guides) are an example of the living manifestations of animism. They act as energetic protectors, teachers and medicine guides rooted in the core concept that all natural entities possess consciousness and spirit.
The crow specifically represents a creature that has captured the imaginations of people around the world for centuries. It is a bird with many symbolic meanings including intelligence, higher perspective, fearlessness, adaptability, magic, the mystery of creation, personal transformation and the concept of destiny. Yet the crow isn’t just a creature of these sunshine and rainbow attributes; there is very much an acknowledgement of the shadow-self as well, which is no doubt why many creative and magical thinkers are so drawn to them as spirit guides.
