This blue and white bottle/decanter was created in reverence to the old fashioned bellarmine witch bottles that used to be buried beneath hearths and thresholds, and filled with all sorts of unsavoury items to repel evil spirits.
Traditionally these bottles were made in a salt glaze, but as that would destroy our kiln our witch bottle nods to English Slipware which often decorated in a form of Sgraffito using brown and mustard tones, but we chose blue and white pottery, because we like it more. Our bottle is antique in style, but you aren't going to find another one like this anywhere else.
Charm on the bottle reads;
Thorn of haw,
Thorn of black,
Sting of nettle,
Nail of Toe,
Evil eye return to foe.
Please note: because of technical reasons, colours might appear different on your screen. Please also note that our items are hand made and are not "perfect" in every sense. They will bear the marks of the handmade pottery creation process that is missing from mass produced items.
