Saturated Gold Goat Guardian (Closed Eyes)

This particular goat guardian has closed eyes to represent an introspective mindset. They are individually handmade and glazed in a saturated gold that has a subdued metallic finish which absorbs the light. Each piece has their own carved-in protection sigil and their horns are highlighted in a matte-white glaze. The goat has so many associations throughout both folklore and religion that it’s difficult to know where to begin: from Pan being half-goat to the Christian Devil’s goat-like depictions; from Christ in medieval times to the witches favoured mode of transportation during the Burning Times; from the 1800’s Baphomet to the shadow-self in more recent years of spirituality. The general theme however points to a level considered defiance, instinct, resilience and untamed nature. Goat spirits are free thinkers that dance to their own tune—this small totem aims to reinforce this energy into the guardian of the piece.
