Cernunnos /Earth Elemental Plaque (Copy)

This is Cernunnos, the Wild God, protector of the forest.  In our folklore he's merged into the concepts of Herne, The Greenman, Odin to name but a few. He was created to honour the element of earth in the witches compass with the cardinal directions of fire, air, earth and water. He was initially pressed into a mould we made which helps to distribute the clay into correct areas on the plaque, then details of face, hair, body etc. are completely reworked using fingers and hand tools to ensure every piece is completely unique, as well as time consuming! If you like him, but would prefer a less masculine description of him we can create him with a dagger, or indeed nothing at all if you prefer, just drop us a line via messages.  

His features are highlighted using iron oxide, and his surround has been glazed using a traditional shino glaze to keep the piece feeling rustic and aged.  Once this process is complete we carefully add broken green glass into the background and fire him a second time. Due to the shrinkage of glass and ceramic having different rates the glass then cracks within the piece to give this amazing crackle glazed affect.  

He is a real folk heart piece created to be rustic, and has a hanger attached to his back so he can be wall mounted.
