A totem is a sacred/magical object and for many of us there is a certain animal that we are inexplicably drawn to. This crow totem is made by hand in stoneware clay, carved with protection sigils and emblazoned with a triskele, a symbol that has been used for at least 5000 years and represents motion, the power of three and the eternal cycles of life. It has been fired twice and coated in a matte-black glaze that has been hand-painted on to give a more rustic appearance.
We’re all drawn to different animals and the concept of spirit animals resonates strongly with many of us. In shamanic belief systems, spirit animals—often called power animals or animal guides—are an example of the living manifestations of animism. They act as energetic protectors, teachers, and medicine guides rooted in the core concept that all natural entities possess consciousness and spirit.
The crow is a creature that has captured the imaginations of people around the world for centuries and is particularly woven into the Norse and Celtic pantheons. It is a bird with many symbolic meanings: intelligence, higher perspective, fearlessness, adaptability, magic, the mystery of creation, personal transformation and the concept of destiny, death and new beginnings. More often than not, those who are drawn to them have a greater insight into their shadow selves.
