These little fellows comes complete with a small offerings pouch for you to leave gifts for your anima loci. They acts as your house guardian. They live inside and you might just hear him them at night being industrious. In Lancashire, where they were brought to life through the alchemy of mud and fire (Clay and firing) you might think they are typical boggarts, but they're not, they're more Brownie; in general a far pleasanter creature to be sure.... we call them Nuummies, it doesn't matter really what we call them though, because they're not going to come, but as long as you show them respect and don't offend you should be fine.
They are decorated in what's called a galaxy glaze, which is really a process of applying 5 different types of glaze to their body and then their faces are created by building up many layers of pigment. They are fired twice, each taking 48 hours and the last firing is 1180C, so hotter than your average volcano and reaching stoneware temperatures, so his body becomes glass hard through a process called vitrification. No moulds are ever used, each is a one of a kind, completely made by hand in our small pottery workshop. They have no name, because a named thing is a tamed thing, and they're most certainly not that!
